Day 84/85: 11th and 12th of September. Almost done. Ocean Grove.
Early start for the 6.5 hour drive to the Grove. We had Alex and Tess in the back seat and we would drop them off at Geelong station for them to get back to Melbourne. Amazing how you can be in the car for 8 hours and still manage to get to the train with 2 minutes to spare.
Arrival into Ocean Grove was quite exciting for us. After an initial unload, a quick reunion with Linda’s mum, we settled into our own space very quickly. Heaters, electric blankets, a fridge that can hold more than 2L of milk and a small assortment of food are all luxuries again. Cooking with bench space and not having to boil the kettle to wash the dishes are also highlights of hitting home. An oven…the list goes on.
Monday was spent cleaning the car and the van of the red dust of NT and the white powder of Coober Pedy, which was no mean feat. Washing clothes and sheets and blankets, washing dishes and containers and the fridges took all day but was satisfying to have everything ship shape again.
