August 5 - 14: Darwin
Joel and Alex joined us for our time in Darwin. We have had a fantastic time exploring and it has been wonderful spending time with them. It feels like we have done such a lot while we have been here. We stayed at Palmerston, about 20 minutes drive from Darwin city. This gave us a great launch to Litchfield National Park, Berry Springs and the jumping crocodiles in the Adelaide River. It also let us easily access Darwin, where we have loved scooting around to the attractions – The Waterfront, the Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair, Darwin Museum, Mindil Markets, the beautiful sunsets and a sensational sunset cruise last night. Tonight, we are celebrating my birthday with Tim Minchin.
An added bonus has been catching up with some work colleagues – Sarah in our new Darwin office, Ellie who is travelling from Perth to Wagga Wagga with Jack and her two little kids, and also Emma who has been working on becoming a teacher under the Teach for Australia program in Humpty Doo.
We have loved our time in Darwin with Joel and Alex – we will miss them when they head off back to Melbourne on Sunday.
