July 12th to 14th - Broken Head

Staying at Broken Head has emphasised how much we like being near major centres but not staying in them. Broken Head is a stunning beach about nine kilometres from Byron Bay. We loved walking on the beach each evening enjoying the changes in the beach each day. Sunrise was pretty stunning too.

We visited Byron Bay one of the days and loved seeing the whales from the lighthouse. As a real bonus we saw a whale breeching beyond the surfers at Broken Head on one our evening walks too.

We had a bit of a love-hate relationship with the caravan park, particularly when they put two giant vans around our spot (one overhanging our site), dwarfing our little Alto and making us feel very closed in. Once they moved on we were back to star gazing and enjoying the stay in such a magical part of our country.
