August 30 to September 3. Elliot Head, Tin Can Bay (Rainbow Beach and K’gari), Sublime Farm and Brewery.

Elliot Bay was yet another lovely beach, but it was a bit of a rainy evening so not much of an opportunity to explore - I would be happy to visit again if we travel this way again.

Tin Can Bay was a quiet little town with huge tidal changes. We laughed to see the boats on their side at their moorings, just waiting for some water to float in.

Rainbow Beach and K’gari were our main focus while we were in this area. Both were stunning. We loved exploring the huge sand blow, and the walk alongside the towering multi coloured sand dunes at Rainbow Beach. A day tour to K’gari was very special. My highlight was swimming in the crystal-clear water of Lake McKenzie, but the tour took us to lots of other special spots too. Even a couple of dingoes made an appearance – there are very strict rules around food and dingoes, to keep everyone safe we had to eat our lunch inside an enclosure.

A night of live music, seeing William Crighton perform at the Sublime Farm and Brewery topped off this part of our trip very nicely.
