Day 6. June 25 2022. Blue Mountains
Staying with friends and we are up and at ‘em for a walk in the blue mountains. The nice part of staying with locals is that they have done the work as to where is good to go. The track we went on was a great mix of easy, with small sections of “OMG Hang On While I Take In This View a Little Longer Than It Deserves”. I love a waterfall, and a number of them can be seen taking the huge drop off the valley. Bit of a metaphor to what we are doing, the water is running nice and happily along its path, but can’t see what is up ahead. The huge change will be at times feel like a freefall, but you get grounded again eventually.
Lunch site at Blackheath Mountain lookout had a similar feel – literally having a slide built for the hangliders to launch themselves off a cliff, but unlike the water, they circle and have a good time but come back to land where they started. Not sure that is where we will land.
Lovely dinner capped with a nighttime view of the Three Sisters, lit for a nighttime view. They appear to be frozen in time, and probably are, due to it being a damn cold and windy 4 degrees. This time I’m heading north indeed.
