Day 47/55. Darwin. The boys are in town
Being away for three months does have its pros and cons. One of the cons was being away from Joel and Alex. So when they arrived in Darwin to stay with us, it was great. A shared experience and a holiday away together as a family is quite a special time. Now that they are 21 and 23 we thought that the family holidays were over. It was good to do some of the usual things….Joel and I watched the footy together, we played cards a couple of nights but there are now also new things that we will look back on in the years to come. Zipping around the scooters around Darwin will be one of them. Their birthday present to Linda was a sunset cruise on Darwin Harbour, which was so different to the one we did in Airlie beach. It had speed, fish and chips, a beer with a stubby holder and the boys. Things are different now, we can all go for a cocktail down at the waterfront instead of a milkshake at the café. We can also have the milkshake too! It isn’t better or worse, just different. More involved as our age and relationships evolve. This makes Linda’s birthday week an even more special time. It is good to have them here.
