Day 39. July 28. Julia Creek via Richmond. No tigers here
Learning a lot on this trip. I have now learned there is a Dinosaur trail, and Richmond is smack bang in the middle of it. They have dinosaur models, a museum, an information centre selling dinosaur stuff. All credit to finding something and flogging it as hard as they can. I thought Richmond were only interested in Tigers.
Arriving at Julia Creek, it feels a lot nicer immediately, even though it is still quite windy and dusty. They have put some effort into the town information centres, and it has the minimum requirement of two pubs. The one without pokies was called the top pub, because what else would you call it? The highlight though was at the caravan park.
Followers of my previous adventures and posts on facebook, may have seen that I am not really into massages, going to hot mineral springs, that type of thing. The caravan park had set up a number of what looked like converted water tanks, which contained two baths that you fill with Artesian waters. You put an occupied sign on the walkway in front of the bath and you are free to bathe and watch the sunset, whilst partaking in a bubbly wine and a charcuterie board. I don’t know if these waters from the deep underground basin under Australia helped me release any toxins, or cleanse my pores but the food made my tastebuds come alive and the bubbly made me tipsy.
This, rated very well on the experience register. Nice evening, would bathe again. A million stars once the sun set.
